About the Speakers:

Brian Mathews, Engineering Manager, Scientific Dust Collectors
Alsip, Illinois

Brian Mathews is the engineering manager at Scientific Dust Collectors (SDC) located in Alsip, Illinois. Brian received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Dordt University in 2006.  Brian joined SDC in 2008 as a project engineer and was promoted to his current position in 2011.

Throughout his 17 years’ experience, he’s designed and commissioned many dust collection systems, conducted extensive R&D testing on baghouses and written several white papers. In 2023, Brian was elected chair of ASHRAE Technical Committee (TC) 5.4; the committee responsible for ASHRAE Standard 199. Brian enjoys spending time with his family, bowling, golfing, scuba diving and rooting for the Chicago Bears and White Sox.
