Careers in Metal Casting

Foundries nationwide are struggling to find enough workers. To assist the industry reach the audience of potential metal casters who are making career choices, the American Foundry Society has produced a video sharing the exciting story of rewarding careers in metal casting.

The Future of Careers in Metalcasting” features interviews with young metal casting professionals – engineers, shop floor employees, salespeople and more. These interviewees explain why the metal casting is the right career choice.

“Everything in our lives has castings in it. It impacts our lives entirely,” says Mico Curreri of ExOne, who appears in the video. “And so learning that, and learning how we can affect that market and how things are made. That’s incredible.”

The goal is for the careers video to be viewed by hundreds of job-seekers, students, parents, teachers and professors, youth groups and career counselors. We therefore ask all AFS chapters and members to help circulate the video URL to these audiences. AFS has staged town-hall meeting webinars with chapter leaders and Key Professors for that purpose. Foundries can also use it to recruit employees at job fairs and community events, including at Manufacturing Day events held during the fall each year.
